Are you ready to dive into the wild and wonderful world of Spam? The iconic canned meat has been a staple in many households for decades, and its versatility in the kitchen knows no bounds.
From breakfast to dinner, and everything in between, Spam has captured the hearts and taste buds of many adventurous foodies around the globe. Let’s explore eight creative and delicious ways to enjoy Spam like never before.
Add it to your mac n’cheese
You have probably seen the sliced-up hot dogs in the American mac and cheese, so the idea of adding processed meat to your cheesy pasta is not groundbreaking.

Spam is a shape that lends itself to cubing and dicing into pieces, allowing it to distribute evenly through any sauce.
Plus, you can cut the spam in any shape you like. If you like bigger, meatier pieces you can mix it straight into your pasta and cook it with the mac and cheese. If you prefer smaller, crispier bites then dice the Spam up really small and pan fry before adding it to your sauce.
Give your breakfast sandwich a makeover

We all love to swing by McDonald’s for an sausage and egg McMuffin. With nothing more than a can of spam, a slice of cheese, your favourite bread and an egg or two, your own breakfast sandwich can be ready in seconds. Simply slice the spam and fry over medium-high heat until there is a slight crispiness. Then add the eggs to the same pan and cook in your desired manner before buttering your toasted bread and layering everything together.
Top off a salad

Adding chicken or fish to a salad is generally our go-to port of call but adding diced ham, bacon and mayonnaise can easily be substituted for spam. For instance, the classic Cobb salad which is typically hard-boiled eggs, bacon and grilled chicken can be substituted for Spam instead. Also, if you are looking to vamp up your classic egg salad sandwich, look no further than simply adding some finely chopped Spam to the mix.
Use it as a pizza topping

I know you are not used to hearing ‘Spam pizza’, but put the typical topping of pepperoni, sausage or ham aside. There is really not much difference between the processed slices of pepperoni to the preserved Spam and when making homemade pizza, if you add some tiny cubes of Spam to the sauce it adds an extra layer of pazaz.
If you are a Hawaiian pizza lover, swap the ham for spam. The flavour sensation of the sweet pineapple against the salty savoury flavour of spam is truly a knockout.
Throw it in the fryer
If you are looking for a crispy, dippable snack to serve with grilled veggies or salad then why not try Spam fries? Add high-heat oil into your frying pan and slice up your spam in the shape of small sticks, when the oil is hot fry them for two-three minutes on each side until nice and crispy (warning that these fries come pre-salted!)
When the fires are ready, serve them with your favourite dipping sauce, for instance, Sriracha mayonnaise, and enjoy.
Add it to your hot pot

If you are unfamiliar with Chinese “hot pot”, then it’s time to get to know! Slightly like fondue, hot pot is a communal meal that involves a steaming hot broth, slices of meats and fish to cook in the broth, and sauces to enjoy with the food. You cook all the meats and veggies at the table in the group, so adding spam to the mix is a great option for variety.
Spam Fried Rice

Fried rice is one of the most versatile Asian dishes that lends itself to the addition of proteins. You have tried egg-fried rice, chicken-fried rice, shrimp-fried rice, well.. you get the picture. There is certainly no reason not to try Spam-fried rice.
Just add cooked rice to a pan, stir-frying in onions and garlic before adding your Spam. Once all cooked add any additional veggies of your choosing and once everything is hot, stir in soy sauce and enjoy.
Spam Burgers

The easily malleable Spam is an excellent option when building burgers at home. The patties can be grilled, pan-fried, or heated in the oven. The next time you are craving a gourmet burger from home, try grilling your Spam with a layer of thick cheddar cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos, sriracha, and mayo.
For a smaller piece of spam, pan-fry with onions and mozzarella cheese and serve with dill pickle slices for a new take on a Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
Spam Pasta Carbonara

Spam Pasta Carbonara: Put a twist on this classic Italian pasta dish by incorporating Spam into the creamy sauce. Cook up some diced Spam with garlic, onions, and cream, and toss with cooked spaghetti, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs for a decadent and flavour-packed meal.
